Upskilling product teams to deliver €39m in value and accelerate net zero ambitions

Engie’s vision

Engie’s annual innovation challenge focuses on generating ideas and new business models that can address critical challenges and advance their ambitious net-zero ambitions.

Taking the first step

Engie needed support and structures to help identify which ideas could be the next big thing and which ones to be killed. We took the top 20 teams, sourced from across Engie’s global workforce, and stress-tested their ideas with a 6 week rigorous coach-led customer discovery sprint.

From here, 40% of the ideas were killed due to lack of customer need.

Training Pathways

  • Accelerate speed to market: For the remaining ideas, we designed a bespoke coach-led training pathway which included MVP’s, prototyping and testing, early pilots and pitch development. Training was delivered with a mix of digital learning content, workshops, and specialist coaching.

The Results

  • From the top 20 ideas, 60% were killed, 30% received onward funding to scale their products and 10% pivoted from their original concept based on customer insight.

  • Over our 20 week engagement, we enabled Engie to accelerate viable ideas to market, generating approximately €30m

  • Killing non-viable ideas quickly saved a further estimated €9m
